Robert K. Herdman
Robert (“Bob”) K. Herdman is a Managing Director of the global strategic business consulting firm Kalorama Partners LLC. Prior to joining Kalorama Partners, Mr. Herdman served as Chief Accountant of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission from October 2001 to November 2002. In that role, Mr. Herdman oversaw and directed all of the Commission’s accountants and accounting-related efforts and interfaced with national and international accounting communities. In addition, Mr. Herdman lead the Commission in revising and modernizing its accounting and financial disclosure system and was a principal advisor in developing the United States’ policy on international accounting standards.
Prior to joining the Commission, Mr. Herdman worked at Ernst & Young beginning in 1969 in its Chicago office. During that time, Mr. Herdman was Ernst & Young’s Vice Chairman of Professional Practice for its Assurance and Advisory Business Services (“AABS”) group in the Americas in addition to the Global Director of AABS Professional Practice for Ernst & Young International. He was the senior Ernst & Young partner responsible for the firm’s relationships with the Commission, the Financial Accounting Standards Board, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
From 1974-1976, Mr. Herndon was the Corporate Controller for a Fortune 1000 manufacturing company in the Chicago area. From 1982-1984, he was a Professional Accounting Fellow in the Commission’s Office of the Chief Accountant in Washington, D.C. Mr. Herdman has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1971.
